Denbridge Road

Chislehurst

Nestled in the picturesque locale of Chislehurst, Denbridge Road emerges as a captivating project set to redefine residential architecture. Our role as architects and interior designers is pivotal in transforming this 1960s house, originally inspired by the American Modernist movement, into a contemporary masterpiece.

Drawing inspiration from revered figures like William Krisel and Charles & Ray Eames, we collaborate closely with the client to infuse the design with timeless elements of American Modernism. Despite the challenges posed by the constrained site, characterised by dual slopes and multi-levelled structure, our team leverages innovative solutions to maximise extension sizes within permitted development parameters.

A highlight of our design is the excavation of the ground to create a second level of accommodation within the extended roof space. This elevated bedroom offers panoramic views of the sloping garden and the extension green roof, evoking the concept of an ‘infinity garden’ seamlessly merging with the natural landscape.

Through thoughtful planning and meticulous execution, our design not only enhances the functionality of the residence but also increases its size by 70%, all while adhering to stringent planning constraints. The result is a thoughtfully designed, uniquely crafted space that pays homage to its Modernist roots while embracing contemporary living. Denbridge Road stands as a testament to our commitment to pushing the boundaries of architectural innovation.
